In this modern era of aggression and arrogant displays of power, only a strong military power is the guarantee of state security and stability. In the dynamic leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistan is adding latest weapon systems to strengthen its military power. Pakistan’s latest defence acquisitions and developments focus on indigenous production, the latest stealth technologies, and the most advanced missile systems.
Key additions include the Taimoor air-launched cruise missile with a range of 600 km, the P-282 SMASH anti-ship ballistic missile, and the integration of HQ-19,HQ-9BE/HQ-16FE air defense systems.
The Pakistan military is also enhancing its arsenal with VT-4 tanks, Shahpar-II/III UAVs, and new radar systems including ready to receive KJ-500 AW&C system to boost detection capabilities. Pakistan military power is moving towards invincible capabilities.
Latest Missile and Strike Weapons
- Taimoor Air-Launched Cruise Missile: Successfully tested in this April, 2026, this missile has a 600 km range, is capable of engaging land and sea targets, and can fly at low altitudes to evade detection.
- P-282 SMASH: A new ship-launched anti-ship ballistic missile with a 350 km range designed to counter maritime threats.
- Babur Cruise Missile Series: Continued deployment of advanced iterations for land-attack roles.
Air Defence System and Surveillance
- HQ-9BE & HQ-16FE: Long-range and medium-to-long-range Surface-to-Air Missiles (SAM) inducted to create a robust air defense umbrella.
- KJ-500 AWACS and HQ-19 Air Defence System: Pakistan acquires China’s most advanced KJ-500 AW&C system. This sizeable defence deal is part of a broader strategic military package from China. This defence package also includes 4 squadrons of J-35A 5th generation stealth fighters and undisclosed numbers of HQ-19 air defense systems
- AM-350S Radar: An advanced, real-time radar system with a range of 350 km, capable of detecting stealth aircraft and drones.
Land and Air Combat Power
- VT-4 Main Battle Tank: Modern Chinese-origin 3rd generation tanks now active in Pakistan Army’s armor units.
- Haider MBT: Locally produced, upgraded variant of the Chinese-origin VT-4 Main battle Tank.
- Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs): Indigenously developed, such as the Shahpar-II and III, enhancing tactical reconnaissance and strike capabilities.
- JF-17 Thunder: The backbone of the PAF, consistently upgraded with better avionics and modern weapons systems.
- J-35A 5th generation stealth fighters: Delivery of 4 squadrons (48) will start within a few months.
Naval Advancements
- Tughril-class Frigates: Advanced, versatile ships enhancing the Pakistan Navy’s blue-water capabilities.
- Ship-Launched Systems: An enhanced anti-ship capabilities using the new SMASH system
According to Pakistan’s defense plan, four squadrons of J-35A and two squadrons of Turkish-made TF-X KAAN will join the Pakistan Air Force in the fifth generation stealth category by 2030.
